Validation Process of RapidSSL SSL

First step to registration for a SSL Certificate -

Creating a CSR (Certificate Signing Request) is the first step towards setting up SSL on your server or SSL enabled device.

The .csr file you create will be sent to us during the online order process, and  used to create your SSL certificate file.

Domain Validation is just a single step -

(1) Most preferred method Email-Based Authentication - The CA can send the authentication email to one of five pre-approved email addresses associated with the website. The five pre-approved addresses are:
 admin@domain.com
 administrator@domain.com
 webmaster@domain.com
 hostmaster@domain.com
 postmaster@domain.com

(2) Second alternative authentication method is File-Based Authentication - The CA will provide you with a text file that you will need to upload to the root directory of your website. This will then be verified by the CA via HTTP or HTTPS.

(3) Third alternative authentication method is CNAME-Based Authentication (Comodo Only) - Comodo will provide you with two unique hash values (these are MD5 and SHA1). You, in turn, must enter them in your CNAME DNS record. You must use the following format: .yourdomain.com CNAME .sectigo.com. Once this is complete, Comodo will check on it and use it to satisfy the Domain Validation requirement.
